Olin was born in Parkersburg Nov. 13, 1923, to the late Van V. and Clara May Bailey Powell.
Olin served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He worked as an insurance salesman for Chamber-Flowers Insurance Agency until his retirement. He was a member of Simpson Creek Baptist Church, and the Masonic Lodge 4th Degree in Clarksburg, W.Va.
In addition to his parents, Olin was preceded in death by his wife, Betty Jo McCoy Powell, on Feb. 1, 2007; brother, John Powell of Parkersburg; and sister, Blonda Powell of Parkersburg.
Survivors include his son, Timothy O. (Faye) Powell of Ashland; daughter, Ajay M. Powell of Stockton, Calif.; and a brother, Victor Powell of Vienna, W.Va.
A memorial service will be held 11 a.m. Monday at Lazear Funeral Home Chapel, 1632 Central Avenue, Ashland. Interment will be in Rose Hill Burial Park.
