She was born on July 30, 1917 to John and Esther Abeling, and had five siblings.
She was raised in the City of Amsterdam and was a graduate of Wilbur H. Lynch High School in 1935.
Ruth went to work at Amsterdam Free Library where she was employed for over 50 years.
Ruth enjoyed reading, crossword puzzles, gardening, and was known and loved for her witty sense of humor.
Ruth was married to William C. Holloway in 1945 raising 3 children, Dalye, John and Donna before Mr. Holloway passed in 1970. Ruth remarried John Blatchford in 1978, and together they spent 6 wonderful years together before Mr. Blatchford’s passing in 1984.
Ruth is survived by her children Dayle (Joseph) Kaminski of Leesburg, Florida, John (Kathleen) Holloway of Coral Springs, Florida, and Donna (William) Marotta of Amsterdam, NY. Her brother Francis (Carol) Abeling of The Villages, Florida. Her grandchildren Lisa Doesburg of Amsterdam, NY, Mark (Jennifer) Doesburg of Ballston Lake, NY, Ryan (Ashley) Schotts of Broadalbin, NY, Erin (Louis) Schotts of Amsterdam, NY, Robert (Jenny) Holloway of Henderson, North Carolina, Arron Holloway of Ft. Lauderdale, Florida, and Laura (Christopher) Davis of Chicago, Illinois. Ruth is also survived by 19 grandchildren, and 8 great grandchildren, 9 stepchildren Betty Donahue, Judy Vollmer, Mary Ann Palmieri, Karen Zack, Carol Dybas, Cathy Semczuk, Thomas Blatchford, Barbara Frederick, John Blatchford, and many step grandchildren.
Ruth was predeceased by her parents John and Esther Abeling, her spouses William Holloway, and John Blatchford, her sister Eileen Lincoln, and brothers Edwin Abeling, Donald Abeling, Albert W. Abeling and also two grandchildren Collen Zabielski, and Joseph Kaminski III.
Burial in the family plot of the Fairview Cemetery will follow.
