RUSSELL Norma T. Balding, 76, died Friday, July 13, 2001, at Wesley Medical Center, Wichita. She was born May 18, 1925, at Eskridge to Chester and Hazel (Williams) McEndree. She married Keith L. Balding on May 12, 1946, at Medicine Lodge.
She worked for many years at KRSL radio station in Russell. She was a graduate of Medicine Lodge High School, attended Barton County Community College and was a graduate of Fort Hays State University. She authored several children´s stories and poetry and was a 4-H leader. She was a member of the First Congregational Church, Russell, Phi Kappa Phi at FHSU, and the Kansas Authors Club.
Survivors include her husband, of the home; two sons, Larry Balding, Houston, Texas, and John Balding, Kingfisher, Okla.; three daughters, Linda Loffswold, Girard; Nita Lavielle, Oberlin; and Wendy Riley, Harper; a sister, Janna Ottman, Seaside, Calif., two brothers, Elmer McEndree, LaHarpe, and Maurice McEndree, Carnation, Wash.; five grandchildren; a great grandchild; and a step-grandchild.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Pohlman´s Memorial Chapel, Russell, with Rev. Martha Hartman officiating; burial in the Russell City Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to the Russell Public Library, or the Norma Balding Scholarship Fund for Russell High School students.
