OXFORD - Services for Lauren Ashley Pruitt , 16, of Oxford will be 2:30 p.m. Monday at Meadowbrook Baptist Church with the Rev. Ronald Rich officiating. Burial will follow in the Forestlawn Memorial Gardens Cemetery with Miller Funeral Home in charge. Visitation will be from 1-8 tonight at Miller Funeral Home. Miss Puritt will lie in state one hour prior to services at the church. Miss Pruitt died Thursday at UAB. Lauren is survived by her parents, Tim and Susan Pruitt , of Oxford; three brothers, Dustin, his wife, Tiffany, Jared and Zachary Pruitt ; nephew, Gabriel Pruitt ; grandparents, Muriel and John R. Smith, of Ohatchee; many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. Pallbearers will be Tim Cser, Alex McGinnis, Nick Smith, James Abernathy, Andy Smith, and Jeremy Smith. Honorary pallbearers will be the Oxford girls athletic department. Lauren was a Sophomore Honor student at Oxford High School. She played shortstop on the Varsity B softball team and back-up point guard on the varsity basketball team. She gave the gift of life to others by being an organ donor. She was loved by all. Lauren was preceded in death by her grandparents Tracy and Novella Pruitt .
