A Lorenzo Dornon is found in the 1850 census for Franklin Twp., Monroe Co., Ohio, b. 1842, in the family of Burr and Saphronia Dornon, the 3rd eldest of six children. On September 28, 1862, Lorenzo enlisted in military service and eventually was assigned to Co. K, Ohio 2nd Cavalry Regiment where he remained for nearly three years before he was mustered out of the service May 23, 1865 at Gallipolis, Ohio. Finished with the military, He apparently did not return to Monroe Co. but resettled to Lawrence Co., where on October 11, 1866 he married Susannah Burcham, daughter of William Fleming and Rebecca Ann (Harrison) Burcham. By the 1870 census he is listed in Lawrence Co., Ohio as a farmer with wife Susan, son John, and daughter Lillie. By 1880, this family, living in Windsor Twp., Lawrence Co., Ohio has grown to include five living children; John, Lillie Jane, Rebecca Ann, William F. and Roma Wade (Romie) Dornon. A seventh child, Ollieva, was born to this family in 1883. Lorenzo is listed in 1895 Veteran's Schedule for Windsor Twp., Lawrence Co., Ohio, and upon his passing in 1910, his widow, Susan, filed for her widow's pension by virtue of Lorenzo's Civil War service. He is buried here in the Scottown Cemetery with two of his children, as well as his father-in-law and mother-in-law.
