Tom Barber, was a son of Raymond P. and Doris Colleen McKensie Barber. Tom was a member of the Middle Fork Baptist Church. He retired as superintendent of the water treatment plant in Southern Pines. Tom enjoyed his art, gardening, and yard work, but especially he loved assisting his wife in teaching sign language classes.

Surviving are his wife, Brenda Carlton Barber; two sons, Staff Sergeant Matthew Bradley Bettini and wife, Sharon, of Carthage, and Henry Barber of Blowing Rock; three grandchildren, Desiree, Victoria and Zachary Bettini; one sister, Helen Hooks and husband, Richard, one sister-in-law, Panda Barber Scarborough, and husband, Ronnie, all of Pinehurst; and his father-in-law, Paul Carlton of Blowing Rock. Also surviving are his extended family, Jim and Karen Carlton Coffey and son, Anthony, Craig and Colleen Carlton Lisk, and daughter Tish, and her husband, Jim Robertson, and their children, James, Camille and Jake, Toni Carlton, Mark Skenes and Melody, and Eddie Carlton.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, Butch, Bill and Richard Barber.
