5 February 1918: Samuel survived a German U-boat attack on his troop transport.
the SS "Tuscania" in the North Channel between Scotland and Ireland. There were 215 casualties. He was a private in the US Army. Samuel returned from war aboard the "Ohioan" in April 1919. On both voyages, he listed his father, John E. Pincock, as his next-of-kin.

Samuel Whitney was frequently known as Whit or Whitney. He was the fifth of 10 children of John Edmund Pincock and Alice Parker (Richards) Pincock.

Married on 12 January 1921 in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints Temple in Salt Lake City, Salt Lake County, Utah to Anna Vera Bean. See her Find A Grave record at 108423001 for her autobiography and the story of her life with Samuel.

SAMUEL PINCOCK - Sept. 19, 1977
REXBURG - Samuel Whitney Pincock, 89, retired farmer and a former resident of Sugar City, died Monday of causes incident to age at Kemmerer, Wyoming, where he had been living with a daughter.

Born Dec. 31, 1887 at Wilford, Idaho, he was the son of John Edmund and Alice Parker Richards Pincock. He attended Sugar City schools and was a high priest in the LDS Church. He was married to Anna Vera Bean on Jan. 12, 1921, at the Salt Lake City LDS Temple.

By occupation, he was a farmer and was director of Teton Island canal. A member of Veterans of Foreign Wars, he served in France in WWI and was a survivor of the sinking of the Tuscania.

He was preceded in death by his wife. Survivors include two sons, Russell W. Pincock of Heyburn and Richard D. Pincock of Blanding, Utah; four daughters, Mrs. Perry (Helen) Crockett, Mrs. Reed (Norma) Ricks, both of Idaho Falls, Mrs. Neil (Frances) Harris of Issaquah, Wash., and Mrs. Donald (Barbara) Housley of Kemmerer, Wyo.; a sister, Mrs. George (Carrie) Kirby of Garland, Utah; 30 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. Services will be Thursday at 1:30 p.m. at the Sugar City Second Ward with Bishop Glenn Dalling officiating. The family will receive friends Thursday from 11 a.m. until the time of services at the church, burial will be in Sugar City Cemetery.
