Son of Rheuben Roy and Kitty Lulu E.(Huffstutler) BrakefieldFrank C. Brakefield, 77, formerly of Fireco, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, January 8, 2002. Mr. Brakefield attended Stoco High School. He was a World War II veteran, wounded on Christmas Eve 1944 in the Battle of the Bulge, and was recipient of the Purple Heart and Silver Star Citation.

He was born November 17, 1924 to the late Roy Brakefield (Deceased) and Lula Brakefield (Deceased). He was preceded in death by a daughter, Jackie Louise Brakefield (Deceased).

Survivors include his wife of 55 years, Edna Louise Stover-Brakefield (B. 1926) whom he married on March 11, 1946 in Crab Orchard, Raleigh County, WV (per WV Marriage License Register, Raleigh County, WV, 1946, Page 217, Application Date: March 7, 1946); two sons, Bob Brakefield of Trafford, AL, and Mickey Brakefield of Hayden, AL; three daughters, Virginia Brakefield-Meyer of North Lawrence, OH, Frances Brakefield-Hogeland of Blountsville, AL, and Kelly Brakefield-Blyth of Hayden; twelve grandchildren; fifteen great-grandchildren; a brother, James Brakefield of Nectar, AL; and two sisters, Thelma Brakefield-Lloyd of Greenville, TN, and Shirley Brakefield-Bleichrodt of Canal Fulton, OH.

Service was January 11, 2002 at Old Philadelphia Baptist Church with the Rev. J.T. Palmer officiating. Burial followed in Old Philadelphia Cemetery.
