JOHN FRANKLIN BIRD

John Franklin Bird, son of Wm. and Mary E. Bird was born, June 30, 1864 at Ohio City, Kansas and passed away at Yampa. Colorado. September 21, 1040 st the age of seventy six years three months and twenty two days. He has been in poor health for several years and death came suddenly Saturday evening from a heart attack. He came to Colorado in the year of 1776 residing at Florissant and Breckenrldge before moving to Routt County in 1883. 

On September 22nd, 1887 he was married to Miss Anna LaFon at Hahns Peak and had he lived one more day their fifty third wedding anniversary would have been observed. To this union, eight children were born, three preceeding their father in death in infancy. Those left to mourn his loss are his wife, five children, Jess Bird, of Colburn, Colorado, Mrs. O. S. Perry of Toponas, George Bird and Mrs. W. A. Bowles of Canon City and Johnny Bird of Toponas, eleven grandchildren and one great grandchild: one sister, Mrs. Samnntha Laramore of Steamboat Springs and three brothers, Ulysses Bird of New Castle, Robert Bird and Loren Bird of Yampa. Funeral services were held from the Yampa congregational Church. Tuesday at two o'clock. Rev. Cecil P. Simpson of Steamboat had charge of the funeral service and A. W. Heyer was funeral director. "Beautiful Isle of Somewhere'' was sung by Mark Cole, "Home on the Range" by Arvel Bratton and "The Old Rugged Cross" by Bertha and Iva Wananuiker, Mark Cole and Arvel Bratton. Pallbearers were Ray Kauffman, Francis Canaday, Lem Llndsey, Rube Squlre, Earl Gray and Jack Gray. Interment waa made in the Yampa cemetery.
