Eliza A Davis was born in 1824. Family history says that she and Joseph Thomas Place met while attending DePauw University in Greencastle, Indiana. They were married in 1848, in Putman County, Indiana. They had one son, William Atherton Place, whom they named after a teacher in the school, a professor Atherton. Eliza passed away when William was about two or three years old. We do not know where Eliza died or where she is buried. William did not remember his mother.
