Funeral services for 1st Lt. Paul Josiah Wilson, 22, who was killed in action in Vietnam, were at 2 p.m. Thursday in the Second Reformed Church, the Rev. Arthur De Jong officiating. Burial was in Oakwood Cemetery with military rites. The Van Dyk-Duven Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements. Lt. Wilson was killed Jan. 17 when the helicopter in which he was a passendger was shot down by enemy fire. He was born in Tulsa, Okla., on Dec. 4, 1946, the son of James R. and Shirley Jo Carinder Wilson. He was a 1965 graduate of Pella Community High School. He attended Augustana College, Rock Island, Ill., and Central College before enlisting in the Army on Dec. 1, 1966. He graduated from Officers Candidate School at Ft. Sill, Okla., in October, 1967, and went to Vietnam on March 1, 1968. Among the medals awarded to Lt. Wilson were the Combat Infantry Badge, the Soldiers Medal and the Bronze Star. Surviving are his father, Dr. James R. Wilson, College, Alaska; his sister, Mrs. Richard (Pamela) Larsen, Fremont, Calif.; his paternal grandmother, Mrs. Imogene Wilson, Mattoon, Ill.; his maternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Joe Grinder, Cherryvale, Kans.; and his paternal great grandmother, Mrs. Alberta Stallard, Mattoon, Ill.
