Hannibal, MO —

Lois M. Slaughter, 83, of Hannibal, passed away at 7:18 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 20, 2008, at Maple Lawn Nursing Home in Palmyra.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 25, at the James O'Donnell Funeral Home in Hannibal. Pastor Kenneth Schamber will officiate. Burial will be at Grand View Burial Park in Hannibal.

Visitation will be from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 24, at the funeral home.

Lois was born Aug. 13, 1925, in Oakwood, to Ralph and Leota Franklin Campfield.

She was married William W. Slaughter on Nov. 22, 1944, in Little Rock, Ark. He preceded her in death March 12, 1982.

Survivors include one daughter, Yvonne Campbell (Ed) of Hannibal; three step-daughters, Delores Strieker of Quincy, Ill., Shirley Larson of Aledo, Ill. and Margaret Smith of Wilmington, N.C.; four brothers, Ray Campfield of Independence, Bob Campfield of the state of Texas, Wayne Campfield of Palmyra and Bill Campfield of the state of Indiana; two sisters, Dorothy Wojick of Hannibal and Carolyn Darnell of Ashburn; 11 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; and great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by two brothers, Ralph and Donald Campfield; one sister, Helen Rhodes; two grandsons; and one great-grandson.

Lois worked at the Crown Shoe Co. in Palmyra for over 20 years and later retired from the Wolverine Shoe Co. in Hannibal. She liked to read, work puzzles and spend time with her family, especially during the holidays. Lois was a Christian by faith.

Memorials may be made to the Immanuel Lutheran Church in West Ely or to the Mission Hill Baptist Church in Palmyra, in care of the James O'Donnell Funeral Home.

Pallbearers will be Robert Gard, Robert Summers, Dan Campbell, Harold Booker, Brad Hubbard, and Mike Scholes.
