Uncle Jimmy Haynes Was Buried in Union Tuesday
UNION, June 8. (Special).
Jas R. Haynes was born in Russell county. Ky October 28, 1847, and died at the home of his brother Samuel Haynes in Union, June 3, 1923, aged 76 years, 7 months, 7 days. At the age of 6 years James, with the family, moved lo Arkansas, were they remained until 1875. They then crossed the plains and one year later came to Union, which has ever since been his home.
He was united in marriage to Miss Nancy Dotson in 1866. To this union were born 9 children, 5 living, A. L. Haynes, of Willimina, Oregon, Mrs. Sheets of Boise Idaho. Tom of Baker, Mrs. Reynolds of La Grande. Mrs. Haynes passed away January 31, 1888.
In 1892 he was united in marriage to Mrs. Elizabeth Boward. To this union were born four children, all living: Ellis Haynes of Baker, Mrs. Ruth Huston of Los Angeles, Calif., Elva Haynes Jordan Valley, Oregan and Guy Haynes.
He was again bereft of a wife March 16 1916. Beside the children mentioned, there are 15 grandchildren and one great grandchild, one brother Samuel, one sister Mrs Dotson and numerous relatives and a host of friends.
He was converted when a young man and joined the M. E. church of which he was a member for 38 years. Truly it can be said of him he enjoyed his religion.
Uncle Jimmy, as he was familiarly called, will be missed by a large circle of friends, and the world a little better by his having lived.
The funeral took place from the M. E. church Tuesday afternoon. Rev. C. E. Quinn conducting it.
The remains are in Union Cemetery.
