Mr. G.L. Leverett died at the home of his son Mr. W.B. Leverett, near Marcoot last Friday night at 11 o'clock, after an illness of about four weeks. He was born in Georgia and had been living in this county for the past 52 years. Had he lived until the coming October he would have been 73 years of age. He had operated the Leverett Mill for the past 47 years.
Funeral services were held at the Rock Spring Baptist Church on Sunday morning, conducted by Rev. A.C. Yeargan in the presence of a large congregation, after which interment was made in the church cemetery.
Mr. Leverett is survived by five sons - Messrs. J.T., W.B., and R.H. Leverett of this county, G.D. Leverett of Montgomery, and L.C. Leverett of Birmingham. Four sisters -Mrs. Josie Coggin and Mrs. Ida Green of this county, Mrs. Matt Abernathy of Dadeville, and Mrs. Malinda Wooten of Wachula, Fla., and a number of grandchildren.
For many years the deceased was a member of the Rock Spring Church, and his life was consistent with his Christian profession. An old and respected citizen, he had many friends all over this section of Alabama.
