On Thursday, September 30, 1926, the death angel visited the home of Mr. W.R. Abernathy and took from them their loving brother, Sidney Abernathy. He was 72 years of age and lived a devoted life. He was sick for about three months, although he bore his suffering with patience.

He joined the Primitive Baptist church about twenty years ago.

We cannot bring Uncle Sidney back to us, but we can go to him. He was a loving brother and was loved by all who knew him. He had many friends in Cherokee County as well as many others in other places. He leaves behind him to mourn his death four brothers and one sister; Rev. J.T. Abernathy of Woodstock, Rev. W.R. Abernathy of Canton, Mr. E.T. Abernathy of Cartersville, Rev. Bartow Abernathy of Texas and Mrs. Eliza Jane Knight of Cartersville and a host of nephews and nieces.

For some reason he was never married.

He was laid to rest at Macedonia Cemetery with Rev. W.E. Hembree and Rev. Charles Newberry officiating.

All was done that could be done, but God saw fit to call him to that sweet home where sad partings come no more. He always wore a happy smile and had a comforting word for all.

He attended his meetings regularly. He was always at Macedonia. He is great missed in his home as well as his church.

We want to thank the kind people for the kindness shown during the sickness and death and also the floral offerings.

May God's richest blessings rest upon each of the bereaved ones.

By his niece, Matilda Abernathy

[NOTES: Buried at Old Macedonia Cemetery in Bartow County. His brothers are John Thomas (J.T.), Elihue Tinsley (E.T.), William Robert (W.R.) and Daniel Bartow. His sister Eliza Jane was the wife of James Monroe Knight.]
