Civil War Congressional Medal of Honor Recipient. He served as a Sergeant in the Union Army in Company B, 2d Connecticut Heavy Artillery. He was awarded the Medal of Honor for action on April 2, 1865 at Petersburg, Virginia. His citation reads "Capture of flag."
