Mrs. Edward Mary Louise Burkart of this city has taken and passed all the examinations both physical and mental for entering the WACS and is scheduled to leave June 29. She is the mother of six children, three of whom are now in the service, they being Pfc. Maurice R. Burkart who is stationed at Camp Beale, Calif., Lt Erwin T. who is serving in the Anti-Aircraft in England and from whom the family received a letter Monday morning which was the first word they had heard from him since April 2, and Pvt. Jack Burkart, who is in the Tank Corps, Nanding, Fla. The other three children who are at home are Donald, Mary Kathryn and Joseph Allen the later now having his papers to enter the Air Corps and is soon leaving for his physical examination. Mary Kathryn is contemplating becoming a member of the Air WACS. This local mother is to be commended highly for her patriotic spirit. Sycamore community is indeed proud of her and wishes her success in her new venture.
