Mexican Campaign Medal of Honor Recipient. Born in New York City, he served as a Ordinary Seaman, US Navy. While on board the U.S.S. Florida, Seaman Nordsiek showed extraordinary heroism during the siege at Vera Cruz, Mexico, April 21 to 22, 1914. For gallantry in the line of duty, he was awarded the Medal of Honor in June 1914 and later achieved the rank of Lieutenant.
