"Third Andress Brother Stricken; Six Others Hurt

Tragedy stalked what at first appeared to be a routine house fire last night, resulting in the death of Fire Department LT Albert G. Andress, 43, hospitalization of Assistant Chief Henry F. Stolzenburg; and leaving two other firemen in need of medical attention.

LT Andress died of a heart attack, according to spokesmen for County Coroner Dr. Paul J. Kopseh. Smoke and exertion apparently brought on the coronary, the coroner found.

He was the third brother in the Andress family to die of a heart attack while serving in the city's safety department.

Resuscitation efforts at the fire scene, 125 Columbus St., proved futile. Firemen Maynard Hintz, who is reported to have found the officer's body in a hall where he apparently collapsed, gave mouth-to-mouth respiration in the ambulance enroute to the hospital.

The combined effort failed, however, and LT Andress was pronounced dead at arrival.

Firemen Hintz, himself a smoke victim, was treated for smoke inhalation and returned in the fire fighting effort.

Assistant Fire Chief, Henry F. Stolzenburg for the fourth time in recent years, was hospitalized after directing fire fighting operations. Twice previously at Ohio.

LT Andress, a veteran of World War II, was born in Elyria March 15, 1919, and lived all his life here. From 1944 to 1946 he was an armorer and gunner with the US Air Force. He was a member of Frank S. Harmon Masonic Lodge.

Survivors include his wife, Evelyn M., a step son, James Kegyes, Elyria; two grandchildren; his father, Frank Andress; and a brother James, both of Elyria.

Services will be tomorrow at 2 p.m. in the Sudro-Curtis Funeral Home with Dr. Earl R. Henderson officiating and burial will be in Brookdale Cemetery.

Friends may call after 7 this evening at the Funeral Home where Masonic services will be held at 8 p.m."
