SHANNON - Dale Hendrix, 81, died Sunday, Oct. 4, 2009, at the North Mississippi Medical Center after a brief illness. He was born in Lee County on April 26, 1928, to John and Cora Hendrix. He was a longtime member of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church. He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War. He was a longtime farmer and worked many years for Southern Pipe, eventually retiring from Action Industries. He loved his family and put them first in everything he did. He quit school in the 6th grade to help raise his siblings. He was married to his wife, Evelyn, for 58 years until her death in 2007.

Services will be at 10 a.m. today at Lee Memorial Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Bill Payne officiating. Entombment will be in the Chapel of Faith Mausoleum in Lee Memorial Park.

Survivors include three sons, Robert (Linda Lipford) Miller of Pineville, La., Al (Jean Mitchell) Miller of Lewisburg, Tenn., and Ed (Cathy Carnathan) Hendrix of West Monroe, La.; two brothers, Bobby (Glenda) Hendrix of Nettleton and Lester (Lueen) Hendrix of Tupelo; seven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Evelyn Hendrix; one great-grandson, Elijah James Sanders; three sisters, Daphene Sullivan, Martha Jo Randolph and Helen Saxon; and two brothers, Marion "Peanut" Hendrix and David Hendrix.

Pallbearers will be Matt Hendrix, Andy Miller, Michael Miller, Justin Sanders, Darrin Hendrix, Keith Simmons, Scott Simmons and Greg Simmons.
