Col. Charles Hooks Molton, son of Major Abraham Molton and Catherine Hooks, was born in North Carolina, August 18, 1825, and was only one year old when his parents moved to Alabama.

He became a large cotton planter with his plantation 8 miles out of Montgomery. Like many others, the Civil War took a heavy financial toll on him. He was active in public affairs and was elected to a term in the Alabama Legislature.
