CARLSBAD--Maria Garcia Briseno, 93, of South Alameda Street, died Saturday, Dec. 14, 1996, at her home.
She will be in state at 10 a.m. today at Denton-Funchess Funeral Home. Rosary will be 7 p.m. tonight at Denton-Funchess Funeral Home Chapel.
Services are 10 a.m. Wednesday at San Jose Catholic Church with Father Thomas Merrill officiating. Interment will follow at Santa Catarina Cemetery in Carlsbad.
Denton-Funchess Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Briseno was born July 22, 1903, in Terlingua, Texas, to Francisco and Juliana Garcia Briseno. She moved to Carlsbad in 1939. She was a housekeeper for Mr. Hendricks for many years.
She had been a member of San Jose Catholic Church and Apostalado and Alter Society. She had done the church's and priest's laundry for many years.
Survivors are daughters Dolores Briseno of Carlsbad, Baudelia Lares of Pacifica, Calif.; brother Cipriano Briceno of Carlsbad; sister Simona Payanes of Carlsbad; one grandson and five great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers are Francisco Briceno, Alfonso Luna, Michael Payanes, Reyes Payanes, Daniel Paz, Robby Sanchez and Robert Sanchez.
