(Originally interred in a potter's field in Kobe, he was re-interred in the Kobe Municipal Foreign Cemetery in 1961.)

German shoe-manufacturer. He and Adolph Lubowski received a contract during the fourth year Meiiji Era (1871) to train Wakayama Clan workers in Japan to manufacture leather-style military shoes. (Up until the Meiiji Era, the military wore straw sandals.)
