Thursday, June 24, 1943

Mary Mariah Morgan, daughter of W. A. and Margaret Morgan, was born in Madison county, Indiana, April 4, 1861, and departed this life June 15, 1943, at the age of 82 years, 2 months and 11 days.

At the age of seven she moved with her parents to Fulton county, Illinois, and at the age of nine she came with her parents by covered wagon to Wayne county, Iowa, near Cambria, where she grew to young womanhood.

On July 15, 1883, she was united in marriage to Lafayette E. Hart. To this union four children were born, all of whom were at her bedside at the time of her passing at the home of her son, Orville and wife in Derby, Iowa.

She accepted Christ as her personal Savior in 1904, and united with the Eden Baptist church, then located at the Hazel Dell schoolhouse.

She often expressed her faith in Christ and said she was ready anytime he called her. She was called "Grandma" by all who knew her. She was kind and patient, always thinking of the comfort of others.

Her husband passed away August 4, 1930. She has since lived with her children. Two grandsons also preceded her in death, Forest and Homer Hart.

She is survived by her four children, Mrs. Bertha L. Davis, of West Des Moines; Rev. W. Marble Hart, of Maryville, Mo.; Orlie and Orville Hart, of Derby; 11 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren; a nephew, Roscoe Morgan, of Corydon; a sister-in-law, Mrs. Liddie Morgan, of Cambria; an aunt, Mrs. Lizzie Morgan, of Chariton; also her daughters-in-law, who tenderly cared for her; a son-in-law, Thos. S. Davis, of West Des Moines; several cousins, other relatives and a host of friends.

Funeral services were held at the Methodist church in Derby Thursday afternoon, conducted by Rev. A. E. Beals, of Russell, and Rev. Look, of Cambria, and interment was in the Humeston cemetery.
