Mrs. James Hatton died Wednesday at her home four miles west of Effingham. Elizabeth Bowman was born in May, 1859 in Platte County, Mo. October 10, 1875 she married Geo. Kurns, a South M. E. Minister. To this union were born three children: Mrs. John Crosswhite, Farmington; Mrs. Tom Stollsworth, Effingham; and Geo. Kurns, Muscotah. Rev. Kurns died May 6, 1889. January 12, 1893, she married James Hatton; the surviving children from this union are Mrs. Zenis Ruppert, Parnell; Mrs. Herman Meyer, northwest of Effingham; Grace and Charles of the home. Funeral services were held in Effingham. Mrs. Hatton retained her membership in the South M. E. all these years. She was a member of the K. & L. of S.
