Carol A. Scott, 70, passed away October 11, 2011 at Promise Regional Medical Center, Hutchinson. She was born April 16, 1941 in Jackson, Mississippi, the daughter of George and Letha Reed Bracey. She was a 1961 graduate of Portsmouth High School, Portsmouth, NH. She had worked maintenance for Reno County for 24 years. She was a devoted member of Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church, Hutchinson, where she sang with the adult choir and with the mission group. She was a devoted mother, stepmother, sister, grandmother, and aunt.
Survivors include 3 sons, Christopher Boone (Laura), Hutchinson, Sheldon Boone, Hutchinson, and Cameron Scott, Burlington, NJ, 3 sisters, Georgia Mounts (George), Mary Alice Reynolds, and Patricia Biddle, all of Hutchinson, 2 brothers, Robert Bracey (Deborah), St. Louis, MO and Michael Bracey, Chicago, IL, 3 grandchildren, Daniel, Bianca, and Erica, 2 great grandchildren, Saio and Jaiden, and a host of nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, Norris and Charles Bracey.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM Monday at Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church, with Reverend William Green presiding. Burial will follow at Fairlawn Burial Park, Hutchinson. Visitation will be held from 9AM to 9PM Saturday and 1:00 PM to 9:00 PM Sunday, all at Penwell-Gabel Funeral Home and Crematory, Hutchinson. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Reno County and Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church, in care of the funeral home.
