CHRISTINE CARTER BRUCE

BRUCE, Christine Carter, 70, of Lynchburg, died Saturday, January 10, 1998. She was the wife of Asa C. Bruce Jr.

Born in Roanoke County, she was the daughter of Elmer T. Carter and Rosa Hall Carter.

She was preceded in death by her brother, Elmer T. (''Brownie"") Carter Jr.

She was a retired employee of the VA Medical Center in Salem and a member of First Baptist Church of Lynchburg.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by two daughters, Judith B. Campbell and her husband, W. D. Campbell of Lynchburg and Jane B. Stephens and her husband James H. Stephens of Rio Rancho, N.M., and three grandchildren, Sarah, Matthew and Deborah Stephens.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, January 14, 1998, at Oakey's North Chapel, with the Rev. R. T. Campbell officiating.

The interment will follow in Sherwood Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at Oakey's North Chapel.
