The Hastings community was saddened Monday by the wire relied by Mrs. Arlie Gamble from the War Department, saying her son, Pvt. Harold Simpson, had lost his life in battle on the Belgium front June 12.
The two brothers, Harold and John, with their wives and families lived in Hastings when both were called to the army about a year ago. Both sons left for overseas within the last few months.
No word has been received from John since landing but several letters had arrived from Harold. His wife and two sons are making their home in Red Oak with Mrs. John Simpson and small daughter,
