Wilfred "Tink" C. Washburn, Jr., of Columbia, NH, passed away Saturday evening, May 7, 2005, at the Upper Connecticut Valley Hospital following a courageous battle with cancer and leukemia.
Tink was born September 12, 1938, in Kidderville, NH, son of the late Wilfred C. Washburn, Sr. and Ruth (Clark) Washburn. Tink graduated from Colebrook Academy in 1956 and served honorably in the United States Navy from 1956-1960. Throughout his life he held a variety of jobs. He worked at the Wilderness Ski Area and for Carl Edwards and Daniel Hebert. He worked also as an investigator for Ivory Cobb, for the Stratford Plywood Company, the Canadian National Railroad, the John Hancock Insurance Company becoming the top salesman that year, and the Groveton Paper Company.
In 1968, he bought his beloved farm in Bungy and resided there until his death. He will be remembered for his love of family, his farm and discussing politics. Tink is survived by his loving wife of almost 44 years, Monique Hebert Washburn of Columbia, NH, a son, Craig Washburn and his wife, Lisa, of Colebrook, NH; a daughter, Rochelle Grant of Colebrook, NH; six grandchildren, Brianna, Caleb, Doug, Dustin, Dawn and Jeremy, all of Colebrook, NH; his mother, Ruth Washburn of Colebrook, NH; five sisters, Lorretta Peccararo and her husband, Emanuel, of Colebrook, NH, Freda Washburn of Canaan, NH, Suzanne Washburn of Taunton, MA, Sheila Greenough and her husband, William, of Taunton, MA, and Sherry Phillips and her husband, Gary, of Colebrook, NH; two brothers, Fremont Washburn and his wife, Betty, of West Stewartstown, NH, and Brandon Washburn and his wife, Janet, of Bloomfield, VT; a brother-in-law, Claude Hebert and his wife, Rita, of Grand Haven, MI; a sister-in-law, Angela St. Cyr and her husband, Dicky, of Berlin, NH; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Tink is preceded in death by his father, Wilfred C. Washburn, Sr. in 1964.
