Mrs. Goldie Arlene (Whetzel) Sites, 81, of Petersburg, died Dec. 26, at her residence.
Born Aug. 14, 1924, in Hardy County, she was the daughter of the late Jackson Whetzel and Virginia Alice (Mongold) Whetzel. She was also preceded in death by her first husband, Homer Koontz; two sons, David R. Koontz and Chester "Duke" Koontz; four brothers, Noah Whetzel, Johnie Whetzel, Jesse Whetzel and Tony Whetzel; and five sisters, Rebecca Kesner, Virgie Simmons, Viola Whetzel, Hazel Whetzel and Pauline Nelson.
She is survived by her husband of 57 years, Floyd "Jim" Sites; two sons, Johnnie Koontz and Ralph "Bub" Sites, both of Petersburg; one sister, Nellie M. Ours of Petersburg; one brother, Ira C. Whetzel of South Fork; 10 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were Dec. 29, at the Lighthouse Community Church, with interment in Lahmansville Cemetery, Lahmansville.
