As to the inquiry about Adeline Snyder, I have the following information: She was born in 1853, and on 19 Mar 1872 She married William Chauncey Roat, who appears by his middle name in most subsequent records. An infant was born on 22 May 1877 and is buried in the Abbotts cemetery, cf. that cemetery listing by Jerry Babcock on these web pages. Adeline's daughter Ella Mae married Dick Scott and they had daughter Ruby, born circa 1900, who married Charles Pratt Simpson and had 8 children. Ella May died young, and you can find an obituary for her in these web pages, under Scott. Ella May's sister Nora had no children that I know of. The 1920 census lists Chauncey 68 and Adeline 66 in Hinsdale, dist22/68, Sheet 1A, 12,12 with only the info that he was retired and she his wife. A biography for Chauncey can be found under the town of Lyndon on the Cattaraugas County web site that is a twin to this one. They are both buried in Hinsdale cemetery; Adeline who died on 29 Mar 1924 in Sec 3, Lot 37, Grave 1. Cf. the Hinsdale cemetery listing on the Catt.Co site cited above. (More details are available, preferably by direct email.) And, if you would like to see a map of where the Snyder farms were, go to the Catt.Co web site, look under old maps, find Lyndon, wait for a long download, and then look in the lower right hand corner, in Dist 10, on what is now the Snyder Hill Road.
