COLUMBIA — Funeral services were at 2 p.m. today at Riser and Son Funeral Home here for Charlie B. Franklin, 79, of Columbia.

The Rev. J. D. Entrikin and the Rev. K. G. Brooks officiated, with burial at Mt. Pleasant Cemetery near here.

Mr. Franklin died Sunday at Golden Age Nursing Home in Jena after a long illness.

He was a retired logger.

Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Eune Mae Phillips of Grayson and Mrs. Kathrine Ellerbee [sic Katherine Ellerbe] of Columbia; five sons, Wavle Franklin of Columbia, Tommy Franklin of Monroe, William Franklin, Sammy Franklin, and George Franklin, all of Jena; three sisters, Mrs. Lottie Riley of Sicily Island, Mrs. Ida Culpepper of Pasadena, Tex.; and Mrs. Lillie Call of Shreveport; 24 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
