Keith W. Chambers, 83, of Beatrice, died Saturday night, Oct. 8, 2011, at the Beatrice Good Samaritan Center.

He was born on June 3, 1928, at Bartlett, Iowa, and graduated from Thomas Jefferson High School in Council Bluffs, Iowa, in 1946.

He graduated from UNO in 1958 with a BA in Economics. He married Jean Fisher in 1958. He moved to Beatrice, in 1967, and retired in 1985 as the manager of the Social Security Office in Beatrice. After retirement, he was the proprietor of Computer Corner Inc.

His Kiwanis activities included: president of the Beatrice club, Lt. Gov. of the Nebraska-Iowa District, and six years as outstanding secretary, Campaign Chairman for BSDC Chapel of All Faiths, President of All Faiths Chapel Corporation.

Keith was inducted into the Nebraska Racing Hall of Fame in October 2011 for his photography. He worked for the Omaha World Herald as a staff photographer for five years and also took photos for Council Bluffs Nonpareil. He was also a racing and sports promoter and was listed No. 1 reporter in the U.S. for the National Hot Rod Association for three years. He was involved with Playland Speedway and Omaha Dragway.

Some of his volunteer and other life experiences include, genealogy instructor, Nebraska Congressional Chairman for 1992 Ross Perot campaign, founding member of National Patriot Party, Director of Nebraska Taxpayers Association, lifetime member of NRA and Masonic Lodge 26. He was a member of DAV as well as former member of American Legion Post 27 for his military service 1952-1954 in Salzburg, Austria.

Survivors include significant other, Dorothy Muirhead of Beatrice; one daughter, Pam Oltman of Beatrice; one son, Keith W. Chambers II of Clarkston, Mich.; two grandchildren, Tiffany Schroeder of Cleveland, Ohio, and Brandy Scheer and husband Ron of Beatrice; two great-grandchildren; one brother, Dan Chambers of Sidney, Iowa. He was preceded in death by his parents, Harold and Velma Crouse Chambers; his wife, Jean; and sister Beverly.

Memorial services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, Oct. 13, at the All Faiths Chapel on the BSDC campus, 3000 Lincoln Blvd., Beatrice, with Chaplain Larry Ramsey officiating. Inurnment will be at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorials are designated to the All Faiths Chapel. Guest book and photo display will be at Fox Funeral Home in Beatrice from noon Tuesday until 9 p.m. Wednesday. A guest book will be available at the funeral home until the services as well as available online at www.foxfuneralhome.net. Fox Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
