Howard W. Burns, 66, 522 S. 7th St., died Tuesday at his home following an extended illness.
Born in Millmine, Ill., he was a Council Bluffs resident many years. He was a retired switchman for the Great Western Railroad and also worked as a salesman for Swift and CO.
He was a member of the Switchman's Union, the National Association of Retired and Veteran Railway Employes, and the Masonic Lodge of Dixon, Ill.
Survivor's include: widow, Carrie; daughter, Mrs. Carl Eckert of Council Bluffs; brother, Robert Burns of Tampa, Fla.; sister, Mrs. Norma Burke of Tampa, and four grandchildren.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at the Meyer Chapel. The Rev. Vernon Rice of St. John's United Church of Christ will officiate. Interment will be at Cedar Lawn.
