Erwin Gabsch, 74, of Rt. 1, Newton, a retired Town of Meeme farmer, died at 12 noon Thursday at Memorial Hospital, Manitowoc, where he had been a patient for 10 days.
Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Sunday at St. James United Church of Christ, Spring Valley, the Rev. Merlin Huebschmann officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Mr. Gabsch was born Feb. 25, 1890, in the Town of Centerville, son of the late William and Ottelia Wimmler Gabsch. He was educated in the district school. March 23, 1916, he married Augusta Dehne of the Town of Centerville. The couple resided in the Town of Centerville and 11 years ago at Sheboygan. They moved to the Town of Meeme 29 years ago, on a farm now operated by his son, Alfred, with whom he made his home. His wife preceded him in death in March, 1956. He was a member of St. James United Church of Christ, Spring Valley.
Survivors are son, Alfred, a brother, Arthur, of rural Cleveland, two sisters, Mrs. August Schmidt, of rural Cleveland and Mr. Ernest Keppler, of Lucerne, Calif., four grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
Friends may call after 3 p.m. Saturday at Meiselwitz Funeral Home, Kiel, until 11 a.m. Sunday when the casket will be moved to the church where the body will lie in state from 12:30 p.m. to the hour of service.
