Beloved son of John Jefferson and Luverna "Lon" A. Henry died at the young age of 44 at the Rose Hill Tuberculosis Sanatorium in Maxton, North Carolina, near the residence of his younger brother J. Edward and his widowed mother, Luverna. He and several members of his family contracted Tuberculosis while living in Missouri and suffered for years with the disease; including his twin sisters not surviving infancy and twin boys of the related Everhart family.

Henry and Georgia's only son, "Otis", was sent to live in Texas with his maternal grandparents James and Mary Woods at the age 3, hoping to escape the disease.
