Fred Beard, Former West Branch Resident, Dies at Mt. Pleasant
Fred Beard, 62, formerly of West Branch, died Thursday at Mt. Pleasant following a long illness.
He was born July 25, 1888, the son of Benjamin and Elizabeth Beard. His parents and a brother, Walter preceded him in death.
Surviving is a sister, Mrs. C.H. Morgan of Pleasantville, Iowa. He was unmarried.
Funeral services will be held at 9 am Saturday at Beckman's in Iowa City with the W. B. Anderson funeral home of West Branch, in charge. The Rev. Taylor Guthrie of the West Branch Friends church will officiate. Burial will be in the Brick Chapel cemetery.
