Fell dead while running for a train: "Pitched headlong to the ground and was dead." His grandson, however, swears he fell dead after running for and missing the train, in the blacksmith shop. Buried at Bay View Cemetery, Bellingham, WA.
He came from Iowa and settled in Port Angeles, WA, because he expected in to become the largest city in the state and probably the capitol. Later he would move to Whatcom Co. and run a shingle mill at Van Buren, WA.
