Della Louise Holcomb, 83, of Pekin passed away at 5:40 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 9, 2011, at OSF Saint Francis Medical Center.
Della was born Jan. 29, 1928, in St. Louis, Mo., to Ernest and Beatrice (Padgett) Haney. She married Irwin A. Holcomb on Feb. 7, 1945. He died Dec. 8, 1975.
Also preceding her in death are her parents, two brothers, one sister and one grandson, Gary D. Holcomb Jr.
Della is survived by three sons, Harvey J. Holcomb of Brimfield, Ill., Gary (Lola) Holcomb and Mike Holcomb, both of Pekin; one daughter, Lilyan (Michael) Stephens of Pekin; three sisters, Mae Hetzer of Ocala, Fla., Marilyn (Tom) Meador of Brentwood, Calif., and Mary Knott of Decatur, Ill.; brother-in-law, Jim Boyd and sister-in-law, Wanda Haney, both of Decatur; 13 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren; and her dog, Teko.
Della was a pet groomer for over 48 years.
She attended Imago Dai Church in Peoria.
Della's family was her whole life. She enjoyed spending time with her family and she lived for them.
Funeral services will be at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 12, 2011, at Henderson Funeral Home in Pekin. Pastor Charlie Dean will officiate. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. prior to the funeral. Entombment will be in American Mausoleum in Peoria.
