Harold W. Whitlock, 83, of Portland died July 27, 1997. He was born Jan. 5, 1914 in Portland, the son of Orville and Nettie (Webb) Whitlock.
He was a veteran of World War II – U.S. Army. He was a retired farmer and General Motors employee. He was a member of St. Johns Lutheran Church in Ionia.
He is survived by his wife, Marion; one daughter, Christine (Daniel) Hubbard of Columbus, Ohio; one son, Michael (Melody) Whitlock of Cincinnati, Ohio; and three grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Anna Cutler.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, July 29 at 1 p.m. at St. Johns Lutheran Church, 617 N. Jefferson, Ionia, with the Rev. William B. Wagner, pastor,officiating. Interment will follow in Portland Cemetery in Portland. The family will receive friends at the Gorsline-Runciman Neller Chapel, 210 Bridge St., Portland, Monday from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Those desiring may make contributions to the church in memory of Mr. Whitlock.
