John was appointed US Postmaster in Worthington, Jackson, IL on 29 Apr 1868. John and Elizabeth moved to Emporia, Kansas sometime in the mid 1870s. Their youngest daughter, Ida, was born in Emporia in 1878. They were there for the 1880 census. John died in 1885. It is not yet substantiated that the Davids are of Welsh descent (as family folklore suggests), however, they did live in a Welsh community in Emporia.
