Politician, social reformer. He was the 6th Mayor of Rochester, New York, elected in 1839. His property encompassed one of the finest freshwater springs in the area; in the early 1830's he installed a water pump over the spring for public use. He was also a successful and innovative miller. He was the son of Colonel Nathaniel, founder of the city of Rochester.
