Services for Mary Marie Christian, 75, Byng, are 11 a.m. Wednesday at
Criswell Funeral Chapel, Ada, the Rev. Joe Dixon officiating. Burial follows at
New Bethel Cemetery, Byng.
Mrs. Christian died Oct. 25, 2003, at an Ada hospital. She was born Jan. 18,
1928, at Walters to A.A. "Bill" and Eula Duncan Andrews. She and her family
came here from Walters. She attended Ada schools and graduated from Ada High
School in 1945.
She was a den mother and Cub Scout leader, an avid baseball mom and was a
member of Pontotoc County Election Board for many years. She was a member of
New Bethel Baptist Church at Byng and was a homemaker.
She and Coe Edward Christian were married Feb. 11, 1945, at Ada.
She was preceded in death by a son, James Christian, on May 19, 1982; and a
brother, Alvin Andrews, in 1999.
Survivors include her husband, Coe Edward Christian, of the home; a daughter,
Linda Marie Thompson and husband Michael, Houston, Texas; five sons, Jerry
Christian and wife Debbie, Eddie Christian and wife, Josie, all of Byng, Wayne
Christian and wife Vicki, Wilburton, John Christian and wife Janie, Cedar
Grove, Larry Christian and wife Rhonda, Stonewall; two brothers, Bonnie Andrews
and wife Freda, Joel Andrews and wife Golda, all of Ada; a sister-in-law, Betty
Andrews; 21 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
Bearers are her grandchildren.
Honorary bearers are David Aldrich and Marvin Stokes.
