Services for Lyle G. Schmitt, 70,
will be held at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday
at the Ralph J. Wittich Funeral
Home. He died at 1:45 a.m. Sunday
at his home, 305 W. llth St., of
a sudden heart attack. Pastor Carl
Benander will officiate. Burial
will be in Memorial Park Cemetery.
A son of John G. and Mary M. Sul-
livan Schmitt, he was born Oct.
20, 1907, in Muscatine and spent
his entire life here. His marriage
to Bernice Dollman took place May
7, 1932, in Muscatine. A retired
employee of Huttig Manufacturing
Co., he was affiliated with the
Grace Lutheran Church, Elks Lodge
and Loyal Order of the Moose.
Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Ber-
nice Schmitt; one daughter, Mrs.
Walter (Joyce) Hoag, Muscatine;
two grandchildren; two great-
grandchildren; and five step-
grandchildren.
Preceding him in death were his
parents, two brothers and one
sister.
