1830 Federal Census for Chester Co., SC, Page 338:
W. Colvin, Sr.:
1 male - 30-40;
1 male - 60-70;
1 female - 20-30;
1 female - 50-60.

THE STATE OF ALABAMA)
PICKENS COUNTY ) I do hereby certify that I, William Colvin, Sr., when the Revolutionary War commenced I was living with my father in the State of South Carolina, Chester District. In my first tower as a solder I served under Capt. Frost in a tower in the year 1779 Under Col. Richard Winn - for three months - next under the command of said Frost for three months next tower under Capt. McCord in the regiment commanded by Colonel Winn for four months and a half - the next tower under the command of Said Capt Frost at Howels Ferry General Green Commander in Chief for three months the next tower I served under Capt. Baker but can't recollect the length of servitude being old and infirm which closed my services and after the Revolutionary War I moved into the State of Alabama Green County where I now reside, which I certify this to be a correct statement of my servitude as near as I can recollect.

) Before us Robert Love and John O. V. Love two acting Justices of the Peace personally appeared William Colvin, Sr. who after being duly sworn deposeth and saith that he is not able by Infirmity of the Body to attend at Court.

PICKENS COUNTY ) I certify that I have been acquainted with William Colvin, Senr. for some time and he has always bore the Character of a man of truth and morality and that the aforegoing statement of his services in the Revolutionary War may be depended upon.

CHESTER DISTRICT ) Came personally before me one of the justices to keep the peace in said district, Cutbird Price Seignior and made oath that he the dependent was well acquainted with William Colvin Seignor during the Revolutionary War between the United States of America and Great Brittain, and that he the deponant knows that the said Wm. Colvin Seigner was a true and faithful soldier on the part of the United States and served under different officers on various excursions against the invading enemy, and was stationed at the time of the battle at the Eutah Springs at Howels ferry on the Congaree River. Sworn to and subscribed before me the 24th day of February 1934.
