My guess is his middle initial stood for Lewis after his great grandfather Lewis Richards, a sargeant in the Revolutionary War.
He and his wife Lizzie of Texas had 7 kids: Mary E., William R., Thomas L. Jr, Beulah, Claud, Jesse M. & Josie C. Henry.
Lizzie lived in California, where I think their dau Mary E. Bagley nee Henry lived, but died in Eldorado, Saline, Illinois in 1933 where her son Tom Jr had died in 1927.
OBIT
The Crittenden Record Press, published Marion, Crittenden, Kentucky 22 Apr 1909. Thomas L Henry, son of William and Mary Henry, was born in Union County, October 31, 1841 and died at his residence near Mattoon, April 9th, 1909. Early in the civil war perhaps in 1861 he volunteered and went into the Confederate Army. He made a fearless soldier. He was a bold, daring fellow and did some things that none but the most daring would have done. While in prison at Louisville, 1865, he professed religion and from his testimony was genuinely saved. When he was released from prison he went to Texas, where he met Miss Lizzie Russell to whom he was married, December 27, 1866. To this union was born seven children, four daughters and three sons, all of whom are living except one son.
