JONES Megan Cathleen Jones, 38, died September 6, 2011, in Huntington Hospital, Pasadena, California, another victim to breast cancer. Megan loved life, and fought hard against the disease for over two years. Born, in Kettering, Ohio, October 4, 1972, she lived till age 3 in Wilmington, Ohio. Attended the Columbus Public Schools, and graduated from Columbus Alternative High School, 1991. Graduated from Boston University, Boston, Mass., in 1995, with a B.A. in philosophy and anthropology (half of sophomore year spent in Niger, Africa in the study abroad program). She worked for Habitat for Humanity, AmeriCorps program, first in Philadelphia, PA, in 1996, then in Kauai, HI, in 1997. She received her M.A. in Public Policy and Planning from the University of Southern California in 2000; then worked for the Los Angeles Dept. of Neighborhood Empowerment; later for the City of Pasadena, Engineers' Dept. Predeceased by grandparents Alan F. and Eleanor (Bradford) Griffin of Columbus, and Allan L. and Martha (Gray) Jones of Grandview. Survived by Jonathan Martinez of Altadena, Calif.; mother, Joan (Griffin) Jones of Columbus, Ohio; father, Robert G. Jones of Los Angeles, Calif.; many other relatives, and a host of friends around the world. She was adored by all who knew her. Megan instructed that her body be donated to research at UCLA (http://donatedbodyprogram.ucla.edu/default.cfm). Cremation followed, and her ashes buried at sea, off the Southern California coast.
