Cherry Tree — Samuel L. Forney, 86, of Burnside Township, Clearfield County, Cherry Tree R.D.1, died at his home this morning.
He was born Nov. 3, 1872 at Nesbit, Pa., a son of the late Jacob and Josephine (Phillips) Forney.
Mr. Forney was a Spanish-American War Veteran and a member of the Indiana Veterans of Foreign Wars and Railroad Trainmen Association.
He is survived by five sons: Glenn W. of Cherry Tree; Samuel C. of California; Herbert H. of Maryland; Harry E. of Pittsburg; and John W. of Greenville; seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, two daughters and four sons.
Friends will be received at his late home after 2 p.m. Wednesday and until noon Friday when the body will be removed to the Stifflertown E.U.B. Church, where friends may pay their respects until 2 p.m., the hour of services. The Rev. Paul Snyder will officiate. Interment will follow in the Mahaffey Cemetery.
Funeral arrangements are in charge of the McCracken Funeral Home of Cherry Tree.
