Age: 74 years; 1st wife of Elbert Hubbard, noted American writer, artist & philosopher; Bertha "was an artist and clever executive. It was largely throughs her efforts that the Roycroft stores at East Aurora, N. Y. were created"; Roycroft was a major part of the "Arts and Crafts" Movement; Elbert & his 2nd wife went down with the "Lusitania" off the coast of Ireland when it was sunk by a German submarine in 1915; Bertha was the mother of Elbert Hubbard & Sanford Hubbard, both of East Aurora, N. Y., Ralph Hubbard of Colorado, & Miss Catherine Hubbard of Huntington, L. I.; she died at Huntington "at her house on High Street where she resided with her daughter"; funeral services on 13 May 1935 at her residence by Rev. Hummeston, Old First Presbyterian Church, Huntington
