Robert J. McCarron, 61, of 525 North Booth St., passed away after a long battle with cancer, on Saturday, October 8, 2011, at home surrounded by his loving family.
A funeral service will be held at Hoffmann Schneider & Kitchen Funeral Home and Cremation Service, 3860 Asbury Road, Tuesday, October 11, 2011 at 3:00 p.m., with Deacon Bill Biver officiating. Friends may call from 12:00 – 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday, October 11, at the funeral home. Burial will be in Mount Olivet Cemetery.
He was born April 19, 1950, in Dubuque, son of Robert and Hilda (Simon) McCarron. He married Sue Strohmeyer on April 6, 1979, in Dubuque.
Bob worked for the City of Dubuque for 34 years retiring due to health conditions. He was a member of St. Columbkille's Catholic Church and Teamsters Local #421. He enjoyed the outdoors and his long walks with his dogs. He was a Harley Davidson motorcycle enthusiast. Bob spent many hours restoring a special antique truck. He was an excellent mechanic and would repair his vehicles and his families. He was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. Bob was a simple man with a big heart.
Those left to honor his memory include his wife, Sue, of Dubuque; his father, Robert, of Dubuque; his sons, Mike (Erin), of Beaverton, Oregon, Tony, Matt (Jodi), and Luke, all of Dubuque; his granddaughter, Arden; his brothers, Patrick of Seattle, WA, Steven (Michelle) of Dubuque, Dougie (Heather) of Keokuk, IA, and Roger (Nina) of Chicago, ILL; his sisters, Nancy (Darby) O'Neill of Aurora, CO, Barb Hinz of Dubuque, Colleen (Ron) Huseman of Thornton, CO and Bev McCarron of North Glenn, CO.
He was preceded in death by his mother.
